A NIAID-sponsored study presented at the 2024 Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections showed that the dapivirine vaginal ring or oral PrEP was safe for HIV prevention throughout pregnancy. The large clinical study was conducted in South Africa, Uganda and Zimbabwe by the NIH-funded Microbicide Trials Network. |
