During the years around menopause, some women have hot flashes, night sweats, difficulty sleeping, or other troublesome symptoms. A variety of complementary health approaches have been studied to see whether they can help relieve these problems.  

  • Yoga seems to be at least as effective as other types of exercise in relieving menopause symptoms. 
  • Some studies of hypnotherapy and mindfulness meditation have had promising results. However, research on these approaches is in its early stages. 
  • The evidence doesn't support claims that custom-mixed (compounded) bioidentical hormones are more effective than conventional hormone therapy.
