Ayurveda is a medical system from India based on ancient writings that rely on a "natural" and holistic approach to physical and mental health. It's one of the world's oldest medical systems. Ayurvedic treatment may include the use of products derived from plants or other sources, along with diet, exercise, and lifestyle. 

Although Ayurvedic medicine and its components have been described in many scholarly articles, only a small number of clinical trials using Ayurvedic approaches have been published in Western medical journals. Relatively little is known about the effectiveness of Ayurvedic practices.
