Planning for emergencies is especially important for individuals with Autism and their families who have unique safety considerations. Did you know that approximately 49% of individuals with Autism have been known to wander, along with 50% of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities and up to 60% of people with Alzheimer's and related dementia? This contributes to increased risk of injury or death due to drowning, a leading cause of death for individuals with Autism. The Autism Society is leading a national effort to prevent water and wandering tragedies through the Kevin & Avonte program.
