April is Stress Awareness Month—a good time to learn ways to counteract the harmful effects of chronic stress on your health.

When you're under stress, your body reacts by releasing hormones that produce the "fight-or-flight" response. Your heart rate, breathing rate, and blood pressure go up, your muscles tense, and you sweat more. If stress persists for long periods of time, it may contribute to or worsen health problems, including digestive disorders, headaches, sleep disorders, asthma, depression, and anxiety.

Techniques such as mindfulness exercises and progressive muscle relaxation can help you counteract stress by activating your body's relaxation response. Use the link below to download our "Press Reset on Stress" flyer, which explains three stress-busting techniques that you can learn quickly and use anywhere.
