Champion Progress, Hope, and Equity for Autism Families—Donate Now

I’m writing to you not only as the Chair of the Autism Society’s Board of Directors, but as someone who has lived this—as a mother, as an advocate, and as part of a community where many rely on Medicaid to survive.

Dear Hcis,

For 60 years, the Autism Society of America has stood proudly with the Autism community—championing science-based research, progress, hope, and equity every step of the way.

Today, our community faces a pivotal moment. Misinformation about Autism—including unfounded claims at the White House press briefing blaming Tylenol—continues to threaten the progress hard-won

through decades of advocacy and service. These myths are not grounded in solid science and can set back hope and equity for families across the country. These statements not only lacked strong scientific evidence, but they also risked causing profound pain across the Autism community. Autism is not a “horrible crisis” or something that “destroys families.” Autism is a diverse, lifelong disability shaped by complex genetic, biological, and environmental factors.

We all know words matter. When influential voices frame Autism through fear and despair, they dehumanize Autistic people, reinforcing stigma and creating real-world harm. What the Autism community deserves is inclusive healthcare, education, employment, and lifelong support, not blame, not false hope, and not dangerous supposed shortcuts.

Today we defend science and YOU! The Autism Society of America’s mission remains steadfast: to empower every autistic person and their family through connection, advocacy, and evidence-based information. Your support brings us closer to a future of greater dignity, inclusion, and opportunity for all.

Your urgent donation today will:

  • Fuel continued progress through science-based education, advocacy, and awareness.
  • Inspire hope for families seeking answers and support.
  • Advance equity by expanding services and ending stigma.

Let’s honor 60 years of partnership and progress. Together, we can continue building a world where Autistic people are respected, included, and empowered.
